Tenants and units

Add a tenant by hand

Create a tenant record with their contact details, texting consent, emergency contacts, vehicles, ID and portal access, then put them in a unit.

6 stepsUpdated

Steps

  1. Step 1: Open Tenants & Units > Tenants, pick one facility and click Create Tenant.

  2. Step 2: Fill in Full Name, Phone Number and Monthly Rate (required), and the email if they have one. Lead Source (Optional) records how they found you.

  3. Step 3: Tick the SMS consent box only if the tenant agreed to texts, and say how under How did they agree?: Written lease, Signed form, Verbally in person or Other.

  4. Step 4: Add what you need: Add Contact for an emergency or alternate contact, Add Vehicle for a car, boat or RV, and the Identification section for an ID type and number.

  5. Step 5: Switch on Tenant Portal Access to create their access code now. Security deposit received records a deposit you have already taken.

  6. Step 6: Click Create Tenant. Then put them in a unit with the Move-In Wizard, or with Assign Tenant on the unit's page.

Good to know

  • If the name, email or phone matches a Do Not Rent entry, a DNR Alert shows before the record is saved; Override & Continue goes ahead anyway.
  • The Move-In Wizard needs an existing tenant, so for a brand-new renter create them here first.
