Set your grace period and late fee

Set the facility's grace period and a flat or percentage late fee, and choose whether fees post on their own after the grace period.

Steps

  1. Step 1: Open Facilities, open the facility's menu and choose Edit. (Or Rent & payments > Past due > Edit grace period & late fees.)

  2. Step 2: Set the Grace Period (Days).

  3. Step 3: Set the Late Fee Type to Flat Amount or Percentage and enter the amount.

  4. Step 4: Switch on Charge late fees automatically if the fee should post by itself once the grace period passes. Leave it off to add fees by hand with Apply Fee on the unit's page.

  5. Step 5: Save.

Good to know

  • The late fee applies to rent still unpaid after the grace period. State rules on late fees vary; check your state's self-storage statute.
  • A Rental House never gets an automatic late fee.
